To coincide with the release of the collaboration items between ORIGAMI and Maruyoshi Kosaka, the Obiwa Tray M from Maruyoshi Kosaka's original brand, "hyakushiki," will also be available for purchase on the ORIGAMI Online Store.
The rim of the bentwood (magemono) tray is crafted from Kiso cypress, offering a soft texture to the touch, while the glass surface features a beautifully layered, band-like (obi) pattern rendered in suki-urushi (clear, amber lacquer). When you first begin using it, the lacquer displays a deep amber tone, but as it catches the sunlight over time, its transparency increases, gradually shifting to a lighter, brighter hue. The amber shadows cast when light passes through the tray are equally stunning, making this a true lifestyle craft whose evolving expression can be appreciated with every use.
Design: Yashima Ide (YANOBI)
Please note: Each of these products is crafted entirely by hand. Due to the inherent characteristics of lacquer, the pattern and color will vary from piece to piece. Thank you for your understanding.
【About Maruyoshi Kosaka】
In 1945, Maruyoshi Kosaka began its journey in Kiso-Hirasawa, a small town along the old Nakasendo highway surrounded by the deep forests of the Kiso Valley in Nagano Prefecture. Under the leadership of third-generation artisan Reo Kosaka, the brand polishes the history built by predecessors, evolving the traditions of Kiso lacquerware through lacquer and woodwork to fit into a contemporary context.
