ORIGAMI with Makers Project presents the [rinko] dripper, exclusive to the ORIGAMI Online Store, from “ORIGAMI and Beppu Bamboo Crafts”.
This second installment of the project centers on the theme “ORIGAMI and Beppu Bamboo Crafts.”
<About Beppu Bamboo Crafts>
Oita Prefecture is one of Japan's leading bamboo-producing regions, particularly renowned for the high quality of its “madake” bamboo. The Beppu area, blessed with a warm, humid climate and abundant rainfall, nurtures thriving bamboo forests, providing a rich supply of high-quality bamboo resources. Furthermore, Japan has a long tradition of hot spring therapy called “touji,” and Beppu Onsen has welcomed numerous visitors seeking this therapy from across the country. During the Edo period, the culture of yu-ji, where commoners stayed long-term to heal their bodies, became widely established. The convergence of Beppu's hot springs and bamboo-rich environment, along with its cultural and industrial background, led to bamboo crafts being used for tools supporting the yu-ji lifestyle, such as bath buckets and bath baskets.
Koyo Ceramics developed a limited-edition color drip holder and sensory flavor cup, designed to complement the bamboo drip holder and evoke the image of bamboo craftwork aging over time. After repeated prototyping, the entire process from initial concept to development took approximately two years.
New bamboo crafts appear green or pale beige, but over time, exposure to light and air transforms them into amber or deep brown hues. The more it is used, the more its luster increases, its texture deepens, and it becomes familiar as a tool unique to its owner.
This limited-edition color expresses that beautiful aging process in ceramics.
Because kiln-change glazes are used, each piece has a slightly different expression, with gradations of color reflecting how bamboo crafts change to amber over time.
mirroring how bamboo crafts gradually turn amber over time.
Furthermore, we paid meticulous attention to the color tones to ensure a unified look when the dripper, dripper holder, and sensory flavor cup are combined as a set.
Inspired by traditional Japanese craftsmanship, yet featuring modern hues that naturally harmonize with contemporary living.
Pairing with a glass server in summer creates an even cooler impression—another recommended feature.
This item is limited to 3 pieces per customer.
Orders placed under the same name, shipping address, and email address may be cancelled.
*Due to the nature of glazes, variations in color and texture may occur due to firing temperatures and glaze flow.
Please appreciate this as the unique charm of ceramics, where each piece has its own distinct character.
